Opening Prayer | written by Anna at Grace Churchan alternative worship community in Ealing, London (adapted)
Everlasting, Endless, Eternal – Timeless God;
Free us
to live into your time – a new time –
in which there is a time for everything under heaven,
in which slow is not too slow, and fast is not too fast.
Forgive us
when we treat time as a commodity or an enemy, when we abuse your gift of time.
Transform us
into people who see time as a gift and a friend, who live as if we have time,
because we know that your time will never cease.
We pray to move near – and humbly enter – Your time. AMEN

Opening Song | “God of the Ages, History’s Maker”
God of the ages, history’s maker, planning our pathway, holding us fast,
Shaping in mercy all that concerns us: Mother we praise you, God of the past.
God of this morning, gladly your children worship before you, trustingly bow;
Teach us to know you always among us, quietly sovereign, God of our now.
God of tomorrow, strong overcomer, ‘princes of darkness’ obey your command:
What then can harm us? We are your people, now and forever kept by your hand.
God of past ages, God of this morning, God of the future, help us, we pray:
Teach us to trust you, love and obey you, crown you each moment, God of today.

Prayer of Thanks

Scripture Focus | Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 | NIV
A Time for Everything
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
