29 Apr Hutchinson Correctional Facility Ministries Program
Outreach Team announced a volunteer opportunity with the Offender/Victim Ministries (OVM) M-2 program. M-2 is a partnership with Hutchinson Correctional Facility (HCF) that “Matches 2,” a volunteer from the community with someone in prison for monthly visits. Since 1973, M-2 has helped to build relationships between folks on the inside and outside of prison walls. Sponsors and participants meet for an hour and half monthly to talk and share food and encouragement. This simple act of connection demonstrates that all are made in the image of God and worthy of relationship and support. The only commitment is to spend an hour and a half each month visiting the prisoner with whom one is matched. Participating prisoners have asked to have someone visit them. Couples can visit a prisoner together if they choose. Another option for prison ministry offered by OVM is the pen pal program. This program matches volunteers with an inmate on Death Row with whom they can correspond on a regular basis.
