Centering Scripture | James 3:1-5a
Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be
judged more strictly. 2 We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep
their whole body in check. 3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole
animal. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a
very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5 Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts.

Centering Song | “Chris Be in My Mind” | #1133 (insert)
Christ be in my mind and in my thinking, Christ be in my eyes, in ev’rything I see,
Christ be in my ears and in my hearing, Christ be in my mouth, in ev’ry word I speak,
Christ be in my heart and in my loving, Christ be in my life, each moment that I live.

Contemplative Prayer – Questions to Ponder
“Christ be in My Mind” (sing again)

Scripture Focus | Mark 8:27-29
27 Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them
“Who do people say I am?” 28 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others,
one of the prophets.” 29 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

Message | “Jesus began to teach them” | Kathryn Whitacre
