Reader 1:

Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind…

Reader 2:

Followers of Jesus, be unified, care for one another, serve each other, be compassionate, and forgive each other…

Reader 3:

Sisters and brothers, let us be one. One faith. One Lord. One body. Let us look out for each other. Let us be slow to anger and quick to forgive of each other.

Reader 2:

Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind…

Reader 3:

Do not repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse; but…

Reader 2:

on the contrary, repay with a blessing.

Reader 1:

Family of God be different. Instead of an eye for an eye, instead of seeking revenge, instead of hurting those who hurt you…

Reader 3:

Repay with a blessing!

Reader 1:

Repay with a blessing?

Reader 3:

Jesus teaches that we are not to repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse but on the contrary, repay with a blessing.

Reader 2:

We are supposed to bless those who hurt us.

Reader 1:

We are supposed to pray for those who persecute us.

Reader 3:

Do not repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse; but…

ALL:

On the contrary, repay with a blessing!

Reader 1:

It is for this that you were called—that you might inherit a blessing.

Reader 2:

We were called

Reader 3:

God called each one of us

Reader 2:

Sisters and brothers, we were called, for such a time as this

Reader 3:

Do not repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse; but on the contrary, repay with a blessing…

Reader 1:

It is for this that we were called—that we might inherit a blessing.

Reader 2:

Do not repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse; but on the contrary, bless each other, even those who hurt you. Because it is for this very reason we have been called, and this is how we will receive our blessing.

Reader 3:

We will receive our blessing, because we bless others.

Reader 1:

We will experience God’s peace, when we show peace to others.

Reader 3:

We will know the power of God’s love, when we love each other.

Reader 1:

We will be closer to God than ever before, when we forgive.

Reader 2:

It is for this that you were called—that you might inherit a blessing. For…

Reader 1:

Those who desire life and desire to see good days,

Reader 3:

Those who want to live a full life and live well into older age,

Reader 1:

Those who want to enjoy the journey and a lot of adventures along the way,

Reader 2:

It is for this that you were called—that you might inherit a blessing. For…

Reader 3:

Those who desire life and desire to see good days, let them keep their tongues from evil and their lips from deceit…

Reader 1:

For those who want to live a full life must be honest and kind, they must speak life into each other.

Reader 2:

For those who want life to be a wild, God infused adventure, they must be kind and offer loving words to other people.

Reader 1:

For those who seek God, this is how God will be found: offer a kind word to another person and be truthful.

Reader 3:

Those who desire life and desire to see good days, let them keep their tongues from evil and their lips from speaking deceit.

Reader 1:

Let them turn away from evil and do good; let them seek peace and pursue it.

Reader 2:

Those who desire life and desire to see good days, let them keep their tongues from evil and their lips from speaking deceit. AND…

Reader 1:

Let them turn away from evil and do good; let them seek peace and pursue it.

Reader 3:

If you want a full life-seek peace.

Reader 2:

If you want a happy life—pursue peace.

Reader 1:

If you want a whole life—chase after peace.

Reader 2:

If you want a God-filled, Spirit-fused, Jesus-led life…

ALL:

Seek peace. Pursue peace. Live peace.

Reader 3:

For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous,

Reader 1:

For God watches over all of Creation,

Reader 2:

For God sees everything that is going on and God’s ears are open to all prayers.

Reader 1:

For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous,

Reader 2:

and God hears their prayers.

ALL:

The eyes of God are upon us all, and God listens to our prayers. Amen.
