“The Joy of Sects”

led by Pastor Jerry Bowen

Education Building Multi-Purpose Room

Have you ever wondered where these amazing folks known as the “Brethren” came from? Do you ever question why some people have that alluring “Brethren” beard? Do you find it hard to embrace the practice of washing someone’s feet and then eating? Are you curious what it means to be Brethren? If so, this class will give some insight into the phenomenon known as the Brethren. We will delve into a basic history; we will explore the migration to the United States; we will examine the different ordinances’ and we will learn about some famous people. Join me for “The Joy of Sects” for a primer into what it means to be Brethren.

Church Social Room

A course in Miracles was taken down by direct transcription of a dictation of an inner voice by Helen Schucman in short hand and typed up each morning with William Thetford, her professional colleague. Both were professors of Medical Psychology at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. The whole process took about seven years. To me, JvA, the Course is a total affirmation of the New Testament, but written as a teaching device: Text, Workbook (with 365 Lessons, one lesson per day) and an 88 page Manual for Teachers. In these six weeks we will select, with your participation, portions to affirm the Presence of God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit in our lives. We have to learn to listen to the Holy Spirit as our teacher and guide and go-between God and Man and know that Jesus will never leave us.

STEPMC – Steps to End Poverty of McPherson County

led by Beth Versaw

Church Community Room

STEPMC is driven by a single goal; to walk alongside people until they are out of poverty. This is done by forming community around those in the program, fostering connections, and creating pathways of opportunity and success. Could you survive a month living in poverty? Come deepen your understanding of what it means to live in poverty.
