The Haitian language has roots in French, Spanish and West African dialects.

French is also an official language in Haiti, but only the well

educated upper class know how to speak it.

“God wants us to be deeply acquainted with the heart of God.

And the more we know God’s heart, the more we know the sound of God’s heart beating,

the more our hearts will begin to beat in rhythm with God’s.”

Knowing the Sound of God’s Heartbeat, Lizzy Harford

Sharing Time

….a time of greeting and sharing those things which inform who we are as a community of faith and how God is moving among us. You are invited to welcome visitors, share joys, prayer requests, and announcements.

Words and Lighting for the Candle of Hope

*Words of Hope

Together – we stand at the edge of the world’s darkness – and we hope.

It takes Hope beyond imagining to come hear the Christmas story if –

you are living things too difficult to be made sense of –

by an ancient memory of angels and wise men.

It takes hope and faith beyond imagining to come hear

the Christmas story when –

you know that it will be a greater miracle than any virgin birth –

for love to be born right now in our world.

The alleluias we sing today – will not drown out the

world’s truths that would deny them;

and yet – we pray that the alleluias we sing today –

will hold us in their faith and hope.

So we gather – the bewildered, the broken hearted,

the fragile and the hopeful, the faithful and the faithless.

Together – we stand at the edge of the world’s darkness –

and we hope – longing for love to be born yet again. – Cheryl Lawrie (adapted)
