Sharing Time

Faith Formation Connection Experiment Question – Week #7

What is your best quality?

. . . a time of greeting and sharing those things which inform who we are as a community of faith and how God is moving among us. You are invited to welcome visitors, share joys, prayer requests, and announcements.

Focusing Music    “Ist Gott für mich”    – Rotermund

Opening Words

The reign of God’s love is coming because:

somewhere someone is kind when others are unkind,

somewhere someone shares with another in need,

somewhere someone refuses to hate, while others hate,

somewhere someone is patient – and waits in love,

somewhere someone returns good for evil,

somewhere someone serves another, in love,

somewhere someone is calm in a storm,

somewhere someone is loving everybody.

Is that someone you?

Community Prayer

Life-Giver, Pain-Bearer, Love-Maker. Source of all that is and that shall be.

Father and Mother of us all, Loving God, in whom is heaven:

The hallowing of your name echo through the universe!

The way of your justice be followed by all peoples of the world!

Your heavenly will be done by all created beings!

Your commonwealth of peace and freedom sustain our hope and come on earth.

With the bread we need for today, feed us.

In the hurts we absorb from one another, forgive us.

In times of temptation and test, strengthen us.

From trials too great to endure, spare us.

From the grip of all that is evil, free us.

For you reign in the glory of the power that is love, now and forever.  AMEN

Scripture Foci    The Mission of the Twelve

Mark 6: 6b-13; Matthew 10: 5-15; Luke 9: 1-6

7-8 Jesus called the Twelve to him, and sent them out in pairs.

He gave them authority and power to deal with the evil opposition.

He sent them off with these instructions:

8-9 “Don’t think you need a lot of extra equipment for this. You are the equipment.

No special appeals for funds. Keep it simple.”

10 “And no luxury inns. Get a modest place and be content there until you leave.”

11 “If you’re not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don’t make a scene.

Shrug your shoulders and be on your way.”

12-13 Then they were on the road.

They preached with joyful urgency that life can be radically different;

right and left they sent the demons packing;

they brought wellness to the sick, anointing their bodies, healing their spirits.
