IN MEMORIAM

Melvin Christy, brother-in-law of Bob and Emilie Dell, died on Tuesday, January 23. The memorial service was held on Monday, January 29 in Salem, Oregon. We wish to express our sympathy to his wife, Mary Jo (Dell) Christy; daughters, Vicky (Edward) van Santen, Lori Christy, Trudy (James) McKinnell; and the other immediate and extended family members.

Joyce (Flory) Hayes, sister of Elaine Fleenor, died on Friday, January 26. The memorial service was held at the Little River United Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 30. We wish to express our sympathy to Elaine; husband, Delbert Hayes; son, Michael (Kristine Hopkins) Hayes; daughter, Charlotte (Stan) Loewen; and the other immediate and extended family members.

Ventures in Discipleship, McPherson College – The course offering for February will be “How the Bible Came to Be the Bible.” The class will be held online, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. (CST), Saturday, February 10. Carol A. Scheppard, 2017 CoB moderator and professor at Bridgewater College, will be teaching. Classes are donation-based and continuing education credit is available at $10 per course. Junior and Senior High Youth will be selling Valentine cookies on Sunday, February 11, after the worship service. Your support of our youth groups will be appreciated.

Western Plains District Retreats

Women’s Retreat is planned for Friday – Sunday, April 6-8, in Allenspark, Colorado. Theme: Woven Together in God’s Love; The story that is YOU, presented by Joanna Davidson Smith and Shana Leck. For registration forms and information, check the Church Gathering Space, Education Building literature rack or the District Website (www.wpcob.org). Registration deadline: February 28.

Men’s Retreat is planned for Friday – Saturday, April 20-21, at Heartland Center for Spirituality, Great Bend. Theme: Your Kingdom Come, presented by Quinter CoB. For registration forms and information, check the Church Gathering Space, Education Building literature rack or the District Website (www.wpcob.org). Registration deadline: March 20.

Thank you so much for your financial support and gifts to the ministry of the church throughout the year 2017. The Finance Team feels very blessed that we have such a generous congregation. Contributions made by the end of the year were only $16,365.00 short of our budget, while expenses were an amazing $39,353.00 under budget. The result was a positive $22,987.00 to carry into the new year.  Our Team also thanks the Properties Team, as well as the other teams, for their hard work in keeping expenses down.
