Help Save the Planet! Earth Day Tip #25, shared by the Philo Class: Hang dry your laundry this week, save on electricity this way.
The Performing Arts Department of McPherson College will be presenting the production Speak Truth to Power at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 25, in the Church Sanctuary. Dealing with stories from human rights activists around the world, this production will be performed at both Annual Conference and National Youth Conference this summer. The department invites you to preview this 60 minute event prior to its performance at the Sunday evening worship “hour” in Pittsburgh.
We are almost there! Outreach Team originally set a goal of $6,000 for a house to be built in Haiti. So far, $5,905 has been donated. We are in conversation with Roy Winter about when the next houses will be built. Thanks to all who have participated.
If your child has lost some rings, contact the Church Office. The rings have recently been found on the playground.

Through the combined efforts of McPherson College, McPherson Church of the Brethren, Good Beginnings Pre-School, McPherson United Methodist Church, Washington Elementary School, A Lutheran Church in Lindsborgh and Soderstrom Elementary School, a total of 902 hygiene kits have been sent to Church World Service in Elkhart, IN for the Haiti relief effort.
This adds up to more than $10,000 to purchase and donate kit items and to pay for shipping. What a wonderful response!
On behalf of those at the college who took a primary interest in this project and on behalf of Campus Ministries at McPherson College, thank you all so very much. We have been glad to help complete and get the kits and money where it all needed to go.

Thank you to Bonnie and Dave Fruth, John and Maxine Miller, and Miriam Hoover who provided cookies to deliver to the nearly 80 McPherson and Central Christian College students who have agreed to have contact with our congregation during this year. The Senior High Youth have packaged those and they are being delivered before exams with a note attached thanking the students for their presence in McPherson, and to stay in touch with our congregation over the summer via our website, on Facebook, or by text messages. We also expressed our hope to see them again next Fall.
This year cookies have been delivered to these college students on four different occasions, each time packaged by either the Junior or Senior High youth. That’s nearly 1600 cookies! Thanks to the congregation for their cookie donations to support these college students, and for supporting this service project of the youth group.

Sally Nelson has resigned her position as alumni director at McPherson College effective April 9. She was approached about a position with LifeSource, the organ procurement organization of the Upper Midwest. It is a group that she has been deeply involved with for several years and that has a great deal of personal meaning for her. Sally will work as a donor family services coordinator. In addition to the new employment opportunity, the move to Minneapolis, Minnesota, will allow her to be in closer proximity to her son.
In the last four years Sally has demonstrated her commitment to her alma mater through her diligent work in building strong alumni relationships and creating effective gatherings. She’s also worked in the community and with churches to enhance the college’s presence. We will miss her presence at the McPherson Church of the Brethren.
Best wishes, Sally!
