Camp Colorado Workcamp Weekend — May 24 – 27, 2013

Posted April 18th, 2013

The dates have been set for the Workcamp Weekend at Camp Colorado. We’ll be gathering on Friday, May 24th and working through Monday, the 27th to open the camp and prepare it for the 2013 camping season. We provide the meals and the tools. You provide the big heart for the camp and a willing spirit to do whatever is needed.

We have a special project this year and that is to complete a tractor shed that was begun by Darrel Jones, our camp co-manager for the last decade, who was killed in a tragic accident in November. We’ll come together to finish this in his memory. And if construction is not your thing, we need cooks, sweepers, trail rakers, flower planters, wood stackers, hammerers, dish washers, dusters, organizers, you name it!

Come for an afternoon, a day or for the whole weekend. There is no cost and all meals are provided. Bring a sleeping bag, pillow, work gloves, and lots of layers (it’s warm during the day and cold at night). Please let us know if you’re coming (so we can have enough food on hand) by emailing Rosi Jones at campmgr@campcolorado.org or calling her at 719-688-2375.

Come join us for a weekend of hard work and good fellowship in the Rocky Mountains!

During that month the teens will be busy with many activities. It is required that the host teen be able to spend each day with the group. Good Beginnings Preschool Update

Posted January 24th, 2013

Preschool children enjoyed both snow and sunshine in January! Experimenting with snow in the sensory table and going on a “winter picnic” were some of the children’s favorite winter activities. The older class children also enjoyed dressing in their pajamas and slippers and bringing sleep toys to share for pajama day. Younger class children will bring their teddy bears for a teddy bear picnic and pretend with puppets in the puppet theater in February.

Both classes will create valentines and mail and work in the Heart Post Office. These activities provide opportunities for the children to practice communication, writing, literacy, imaginative play, and sharing skills! Valentines Day will be celebrated followed by visits from local dentists, Dr. Brian Kynaston and Dr. Matthew Perry, who will teach us how to take good care of our teeth.

Blessings in the New Year! Thank you for your ongoing support.
