In Cocoa Beach, FL …

for meetings of the Inter-Agency Forum (Church of the Brethren agency executives, their board chairs, and Annual Conference Officers) and Council of District Executives.

This morning I ran into the sunrise, waves. “Ode to the Common Man” played and I ran. Then I discovered someone sleeping. Too prepared to be a hangover. Not prepared enough to be camping. I prayed. “Common Man” faded into Van Halen’s “Right Now”: “now you gotta run to get even … turn this thing around.”

God, thanks for the inspiration for this day … “what’re you waiting for?… it means everything.”

from Bakersfield, CA

Posted January 10th, 2010

In mid-December I traveled to Bakersfield, CA, for a meeting of Anabaptist moderators and general secretaries. The gathering was hosted by the Mennonite Brethren. After that I stayed a little longer to be with the folks at the Bakersfield Church of the Brethren. From breakfast at 7:15 AM until the last drop was gone at the after-Worship Potluck, a nice day. Enjoy the video.

Pittsburgh KNOWS fireworks

Posted December 12th, 2009

One of the largest manufacturers of fireworks is not far from Pittsburgh, and so the city does fireworks well. Because of YouTube time limits, this is only 10 minutes worth of a 16 minute firework display on 2009 November 20. Pittsburgh was having a city-wide celebration of the beginning of the Christmas season. This was the second-- and largest-- fireworks display, as well as many other concerts. Enjoy.
