Good Beginnings Preschool Update

The younger preschool classes took fall walks in October on McPherson College campus. The children were able to visit Becki and Jd. Bowman and find out about their work. Other parents will also share about their jobs.

The older classes will explore the campus and look for fall changes during the first part of November. Many colorful fall leaves and pumpkins are on the walls.

Older class children will make “Thankful” class books after reading Thanksgiving is For Giving Thanks. It will be fun to create turkeys with feathers and turkeys with candy corn!

We will celebrate growth and learning at parent/teacher conferences on November 22 and 23. Thanksgiving vacation will be November 24-26.

We are very THANKFUL for our church family!

Wendy’s purchases to benefit Good Beginnings

Spread the word!  20% of sales of food purchased at Wendy’s from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Apr. 7 will go to Good Beginnings Preschool.

Both classes will be enjoying field trips in April.  The younger classes will take a trip to the McPherson YMCA and the McPherson Public Library.  The children can find out how their bodies stay healthy in The Busy Body Book, test their skills on an obstacle course, and do exercises.  They will also focus on music, five senses, and transportation this month.
Older class children will walk to the McPherson Museum for the annual Preschool Jamboree.  The focus will be on Native Americans, especially McPherson County Native Americans.  Brett Whitenack will show them a full size buffalo hide, buffalo bones, stone tools, and more!

Prekindergartners are finding all kinds of spring clues and will continue looking for more.  They will read It Looked Like Spilt Milk and then use their creativity to figure out what their “spilled milk” paintings look like.  The theme “we care for our world” will provide lots of thoughtful discussion and activities – recycling, turning off lights, riding bikes, reusable shopping bags.

Parent/teacher conferences will be available Tuesday and Wednesday, Apr. 27 and 28.

Good Beginnings Preschool Enrollment Open

Enrollment for the 2010-11 preschool year has begun!  Stop by the preschool or call Carol at 241-1109 to get an application for your family or to share with a friend.

The Younger Class will start the month of March with the theme If You Take a Bear to the Movies.  The children can bring their teddy bears and “buy” tickets and popcorn for the  movie Corduroy.  They will also bake bread and paint toast for snack this month.  The wheat table will be available for exploration.

Both classes will check the wind and weather during March.  We are all hoping spring is on the way!  The children will paint Easter eggs and go on an egg hunt.
