Genesis tells us that with just a few words God brought to life all that lives and breathes. Earth Day celebrations are this week. For the church, the first priority is thanksgiving for Creation. Before you drive, cook a meal, or turn on the lights, offer praise to God for the Creation we use without much thought.

•Pray for the four northern states in Nigeria where terrorist-type violence has prompted the government to recently declare a state of emergency. Pray for the Nigerian Brethren, their congregations, pastors, denominational leaders, and CoB mission worker, Carol Smith.

•On-going conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq

•Continuing prayers for our brothers and sisters in North and south Sudan

•Our brothers and sisters in Christ in Brazil, Haiti, Dominican Republic, India, Nigeria, and Sudan

•Palestinians and Israelis experiencing violence; may hearts be opened for a new way

This week youth and advisors are at Christian Citizenship Seminar in New York and Washington D.C., exploring the intersection of faith with today’s issues. Pray for their safety and that they grow in wisdom and stature along with Christ.

The Lord is risen! When we dwell on Good Friday without acknowledging it is but a way point to resurrection, we make salvation about death rather than life. Where is God bringing about new life? How can you share the joy of resurrection with those around you?
